2012
Welcome to SAAMA
Get to know us better
SAAMA was founded and granted charitable status in 2012 to provide school sponsorship, medical access, well capping, school building and free medical care for children in our schools in Gambia. We are currently working in The Wullinkamma Village area. When funds allow we take approximately 12 children from the village to a beach. Here they enjoy sports, playing in the sea, a meal and dancing to drumming.
Hunger has been a big problem at the schools and we arrange for free lunches and breakfasts when funds are available.
The founder of the charity is Delyth Dallimore, who moved to The Gambia in 2005 and became involved in a very small local nursery in the village of Wullinkamma. Over the 14 years Del has been at the helm, the nursery has been extended from a capacity of 60 to now accommodating 160 children.
An entire Lower basic school has been built and handed over to the Government accommodating 1050 children with 8 classrooms and 24 teachers. It is being expanded with 6 more classrooms currently being built.
Most recently, in 2013, the Arribaja clinic was built for the local community. All of this continues to be supported by your kind donations, under the watchful eye of Del and Hamed, SAAMA Project Manager.
